Kids Camp 2019

17 Dec 2019

Kids camp seems to rolls around more quickly each year but it was a great success as always. We had 36 children between grades 3-6 from NSW, ACT and QLD.

Over the 5 days of camp it was lovely to watch the friendships and bonds form between the children. They all came with so much energy and excitement but also with an enthusiasm towards learning about the things of God. One child received the Holy Spirit at camp which was a great blessing.

This year’s theme was ‘Happy to Help’ and the camp scripture was 2 Corinthians 9:7 – “Every man according as he purposes in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loves a cheerful giver.”

The theme had many dimensions. The children were taught about characters in the bible who were happy to help (such as David taking food to his brothers) and also how God is happy to help us. The children were also encouraged to help out at camp, such as doing dishes after meals, playing musical instruments in the chorus sessions and baking afternoon tea for everyone in a skill share session.

The program was jam-packed and some of most popular activities were the mural chalk challenge, the olympics, pottery and bandana making. The finale of camp was gala night and the plays each team wrote and performed were very entertaining!!!

If you have never made it to camp, I can’t recommend it highly enough. The kids will inspire you and you’ll feel refreshed spiritually (and a little tired physically!).
